Colored up this pic of Alpha Legionnaires in what looks like some kind of ambush, which is a bit ironic
seeing as how their supposed to be master tacticians, yet if anyone could surprise em, it would probably be the Raven Guard.

since reading Legion by Dan Abnett, I am a much bigger fan of the alphas than I was before.

Avoiding spoilers for those who haven't read it, there reason for turning to chaos is not what you would expect!

Nice work on the pic as well.

The original black and white picture is actually from Page 43 of the current Codex: Space Marines. The story behind it is the White Scars 3rd Company Captain, Kor'sorro Khan, the White Scars Master of the Hunt, was hunting down the Daemon Prince Kernax Voldorius. They tracked him to the planet of Quintus, where they found the planet's military had sided with Chaos...and some unlikely allies. They found Captain Kayvaan Shrike and the Raven Guard 3rd Company.

Needless to say, they teamed up and whooped some Chaos butt. :D

Ironically, it was the Alpha Legion that led the ambush that wiped out 77,000 of the 80,000 Raven Guard marines during the Drop Pod Massacre, the exact oppisite of this. Seeing as I love both factions, I really can't pick a side.

Great job on the picture though. It is the best Warhammer picture I have seen here on Deviantart. It has great coloring, excellent drawings of the marines from both factions, and generally good battle layout with no exact focal point just like the official artwork from Warhammer. 5/5 stars :star::star::star::star::star:

What book was this art taken from? I have searched high and low. Planetstrike, Apocalypse, and Apoc Reloaded and I got nothing.
