Grey Onslaught by MajesticChicken Grey Onslaught by MajesticChicken
Colored up some Grey Knights setting daemons to the flame and sword. Apologies if the color palette isn't terribly 'grim-dark' but the original art left me little choice with it's bright contrasts.

Original artist is Nuala Kinrade and Dave Gallagher.

Great piece, but are you sure the original artist is Alex Boyd? I've seen some of his Codex coverpieces and they look nothing like this. Much kudos anyway :)

I'm not sure actually, it just doesn't fit with Adrian Smith's or Paul Dainton's work, and since Dave Gallagher doesn't do 40k work anymore, I just went by process of elimination. If you know who it might be, please do tell me.

I've actually been looking into this for a while now, and it would be my pleasure to share my findings with you :)

From what I can tell, this is Nuala Kinrade's work. The cover artwork for the Space Marine and Ork codices (links: [link] and [link]) are by Alex Boyd, and the front cover for the Warhammer 40000 rulebook ([link]) is a combination of three separate pieces by Kinrade, Boyd and Gallagher. Specifically, the three pieces are a) the blurry galaxy backdrop (Gallagher), b) the iconic hammer-and-shield with the man wrestling with serpents (clearly the same style as the Boyd pieces I linked, although it's easily be confusable Paul Dainton's work as well) and c) a generic fight scene between Ultramarines and Orks (which must be by Kinrade). This fight scene is clearly in the same style as the piece you've coloured in.

Apologies for the block of text, hope that helps :].

A-whoops. On further research, I can safely say this is a piece by Dave Gallagher. Here is a sample of Warhammer Fantasy High Elf artwork for comparison, with details straight from the horse's mouth underneath (bottom left corner): [link] It appears Kinrade is also a support artist, who adds to other's pieces but does none on her own. So there's a whole barrel of assumptions blown out of the water! X) Are you sure Gallagher no longer does 40K anymore?
